Hi, so I have a really rare type of diabetes and just found out I’m pregnant again.

The tablets I take are gliclazide and not safe for baby In pregnancy on the flip safe insulin is also detrimental to the baby.

I have to take glibenclamide which unfortunately my consultant can’t source in the uk. This has left me in the position where I can’t take anything for the time being

Im so nervous to eat because my sugars go high,I’m also hungry all the time what can I eat and snack on the won’t sky rocket my sugars but won’t leave me hungry thanks for any help x

First, congratulations!

Have you already contacted your diabetes nurse and/or your prenatal care specialist (sorry, I'm not sure what they are called in the UK) to ask how to proceed?

Insulin is not detrimental for babies, it's commonly used in people with gestational diabetes because it has no side effects except hypo's.

Is it correct you have MODY? (You talked about that on an older thread, which is why I ask).
You can set your profile to say 'MODY' instead of 'Other', which may help in finding people with the same type of diabetes.

Hi I have a very rare genetic type of Diabetes, insulin does not work for me and will be harmful for the baby as they will also have the diabetes I have. My treatment is being led by Exeter university and the medication I need is unavailable in the uk x

As for food that won't spike you much, I'd go for snacks with no or very little carbs when you're hungry until you've heard from your team, cheeses, meat, eggs, fish.
