Unless you have a defective pancreas, you will not experience Dawn Phenomenon. Most people’s liver will dump glucose in the morning. Most pancreas then release insulin to manage it so do not see a significant blood sugar rise.@linzi77, If it's only the morning one, don't forget about the Dawn Phenomenon when the liver dumps a load of glucose into your bloodstream to help you start the day. So if the rest of your readings are ok, I would be inclined to ignore it. Just try to keep to a low carb diet
I suffered from Dawn Phenomenon, which can be a pain. It takes a while but will sort itself out eventuallyUnless you have a defective pancreas, you will not experience Dawn Phenomenon. According to your profile, you have Type 2 diabetes which I include under the definition of "defective pancreas".I suffered from Dawn Phenomenon, which can be a pain. It takes a while but will sort itself out eventually

Do you know what your HbA1c results have been? Sometimes people will be told "they're fine" and only later discover that the results were around 46 or 47mmol/mol. I only found out my A1c had been rising at the point I was diagnosed.Hi
I’m after advice if anyone can help.
I had twins 2 years ago at 43 when I developed gestational diabeties, I managed with diet and metformin. My dad is also type 2 diabetic.
Last year I had to really push to have the blood test to check for type 2 and I was fine.
Over the last few months I’ve been waking up feeling hungover when I haven’t had a drink. I started testing my blood sugars and my morning fasting level is usually over 7. The rest of the day they are 7 or below. I contacted my gp to advise I thought I maybe pre diabetic especially with my history but have been told because it’s not an emergency they won’t see me. I am due to be tested again in august this year again I know I will have to really push to get this. As I had gestational diabeties I was told I had to be tested every year and I have a 50% change of developing type 2 over the next 5 years. When I was pregnant the reading I always struggled with was the morning one.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and it has turned into full type 2 diabeties.
