My readings were as high as they have ever been due to my over eating over the last few days been on holiday all inclusive....
I have been so strict since my first diagnosis 3 years ago and stupidly took onboard a comment from my dn ("you can eat what you want when you are on insulin"). So for 3 days I did, :? larger amounts than usual, plus a couple of puddings first in 3 years.YUM. NO ALCHOL
As well as all this went to a supermacs for lunch with my daughter only havig a drink as do not eat
My dn has been in contact and told me to put my insulin up and I held back the info on what I was at.
No I am back to normal eating being back at home bs are a lot more respectable but will my higher dosage play havoc with my control . I am new to all of this so please forgive my ignorance.
I am going to come clean tomorrow. Also what dosage is everyone on bas bol .
I am on 20 lantis b4 bed 10 humalog 3 times a day. (Up from 18 and 8 just yesterday)
Anyone on a similar amount and what do you eat to keep control.
Thanks for your time Daz.. :? :? UP

you are allowed to enjoy your holiday carb counting is the key to covering your food I'm on 18 lantus and depending on what I'm eating between 8 and 15 novo and keep quite good control ask the dsn about carb counting that will help you see what you need to cover

letting yourself go now and then is ok,
i am on 12 lantus and 1-3 units novo per meal, give me a shout if you need to know more :D

Hi

You will get back on track. Put it down to a blip from having a good holiday, which you deserve. We all deserve a better quality of life with this blessed condition and if that means falling off the wagon for understandable reasons, then so be it. We need to manage/think/calculate/plan ahead/ care about diabetes every day and it is very consuming at times (who doesnt get a high bg, unexplained, and then rack brains/frown like hell/get weepy- no, just me? :) )

Higher doses wont affect your control, your body needs what we need
If you now need higher doses, then so be it. Just be careful its not what DNS is telling you to take (if you havent told her the high bg is due to lax control over past weeks) as this might cause hypos if you return to more usual patterns of eating

I am on 8 u Levemir am and pm
Novo varies across the day - todays total Novo is 9 u for the whole day
Yesterday it was 11.

i manage my carbohydrate intake. Generally eating no more than about 100g per day at absolute max - unless of course I fall of the wagon, but then, god bless correction bolus!
