Type 1 I would like to try an insulin pump. How can I do this?

I am a type 1 diabetic and I would really like to try a insulin pump but no-one will help me get it. I keep asking my GP and hospital doctors but they won't help me?

Insulin pumps are in high demand but are on limited availability on the NHS. There are eligibility criteria set out in NICE guidelines. Make sure you get transferred to a Specialist in Insulin Pump Therapy and insure you can show your dedication to undergoing training and achieving diabetic control. There is an application procedure but because of differences in funding in different areas you may need to be very assertive in obtaining a pump which privately would cost between £2k to £3k. They will also suit some people than others.

Whilst this is not an approach I would suggest, it has been suggested to me that having good control on a basal bolus model is far less likely to get you a pump than having poor control. Would you be able to comment on this?
