iBGStar meter and how to obtain?

Tegan1110

Newbie
Hi all, I'm a type one diabetic taking insulin and will soon be in the market for a new blood glucose monitor.

I have been looking around and have decided that I quite like the idea of the iBGStar meter for use with my iPhone but being a true Yorkshireman I don't really want to have to pay for it. I have seen the meter for £24 (half price) on boots website which once I receive my VAT relief would make it a reasonable £20 but I know I can get other pieces of kit for free either through my diabetes centre, GP or directly from the manufacturer.

Does anyone know how I can get one of the iBGStar meters for free? I know I'm a skinflint but times are hard!

Regards

Hi

I tried to get a free one but no luck. U ended up paying full price but vat free so am very cross it is so cheap now! I am going to sell mine soon as will be getting a new machine with the pump, but don't expect to get much back on it.
Good luck

Kat

How did you go about claiming vat back? I'd rather not pay up front and have a battle claiming back, is there some kind of form you can fill in and the retailer just sells at vat free price? Boots say they know nothing about this!

Hello

my husband picked it up for me and said the staff had no idea what to do. he had to ask for the store manager to sort it out as the staff thought the price was already vat free!
