Just out of interest guys, what have you set your range on?

I used to make mine quite strict, 5.1–7.8, but then at a check-up at the diabetic clinic a doctor told me to just make it 4–10 and aim for 70% in target.

I think in part they say that because if everyone is operating in the same target range then everyone can be told to follow the same time in target.

I've set mine at 4-8.5, I have probably only gone higher a couple of times in 6 months, but I am using the range to gauge if my insulin levels are on the decline and my pancreas is giving up the ghost. Having the line at 8.5 makes it visually easier to see this, otherwise I use the averages; the bog standard 3.9-10 doesn't disappear, and the personal ranges aren't shown on the AGP report.

I think you can change the ranges on the report from the LibreView website

Mine is set between 4 and 10.
The reason is
- under 4 is considered a hypo.
- I have seen graphs for people without diabetes peak at 9 so happy to give myself a little addition and round up to 10

I am frustrated with Libre. I want a target range and a different alarm range. Ideally, I would like an alarm to tell me I am nearing my lower target before I get there.

Oooh, depends on my device..

On both my phone & watch. Lower is 3.9. I get an alarm or rattle a good 10 minutes before feeling early onset the late 3s. (Using a meter to confirm. Eyes start flashing in lower field of vision. Before feeling wigged out.)
9.9 on my watch due to the annoying rattle. (Again.) & 7.8 on my phone. I have no upper limit alarm set for my phone.

But I do use after market apps on both devices, using it like a CGM.?

3.8-8. I do vary them periodically depending on what I’m doing, but I don’t work and have lots of time to respond quickly if needed.

Mine is set for 4.1 and 14. The reason for the 14 is that my educator didn't want me to get alarm fatigue so set it high, but I rarely go above 10 and am awake half the night with alarms of 3.8 etc (finger pricks are higher when I check) so I think I'm getting alarm fatigue from these lows from my libre which might be because I'm sleeping on my arm?? Something to discuss with my educator

Yes, I have heard of “compression lows” from lying on the arm with the sensor.

A side effect is that I'm getting barely any sleep and just wrote the longest sentence I've ever written in my life ;)

When I was treated for macula oedema with anti-VEGF jabs all the patents where Blood pressured & fingerprick tested by a nurse.
That was pretty much the window on BG when they would continue with the procedure? Which I thought was generous.
Though I did Romp in on a 3.9 and was told by a nurse to eat the whole bag of jelly babies I carried with me & shed see me in an hour..
I responded that I just needed one & she can come back in 20 minutes…

Try placing the sensor inside the arm, opposite side? I don’t get “compression lows.” (Hope this helps?)

My Target range is set to 4.0-8.0 of which i generally have a TIR in the mid to late 70s percent.

My alarms are set for 4.0-10.0 I find the libre generally overstates when low - so it can say low 3s and fingerprick says safely in the 4s.

Thank you everyone, mine is set at 4-10 and I’m 75% in target so I feel reassured by all of you.

I set 4.5-9, because I want to have time to prevent hypo before bg falls below 4. The answers are really reassuring, because many people here say that 8 is already hyperglycemia, but I feel best when my bg is 6-7, and when my bg is 3.9 I already feel like hypo, although for people without diabetes, it is higher than usual on an empty stomach

So I can stop panicking when my alarm wakes me up at 3AM every morning with 3.9? Strip test is usually 4.2 (roughly) but it's every morning at 3AM. My time in range, bearing in mind my upper limit is 14 which I never reach, is 99%... the 1% are the 3AM woes

Edit: I'm newly diagnosed so don't really know much. My lows are consistent (at 3AM) and my highs -- about 9-10 -- are after breakfast, I know that much :) When I was in hospital my BGL was in the 20's (22-28) so I think the insulin is working

@plantae it is not ideal dropping to 3.9 or even 4.2 each night. The problem is not with that level but that it is close to a hypo. Therefore, if you went to bed slightly lower, or you had a glass of wine or you did more exercise, you would likely hypo.
I think the advice would be to go to bed slightly higher. Maybe have a biscuit without insulin before cleaning your teeth.

Ah, ok. Maybe that's why they gave me a half sandwich at 9PM when I was in hospital? I can add that to my routine. I need to speak to my educator but that's not happening until near the end of January. In the meantime I'll have the bread with my nighttime basal dose. Thanks!

Edit: Will wine make me go hypo?! I've not had any but I didn't know that

if I set 3.3-14, then my time in the target range will be 100% for the last month) haha, it all depends on the settings :hilarious:

with my usual settings, everything is not so good

with bg 3.9, I'm a little shaky, like with hypo

I envy people who can keep bg in the range of 4-6

This is what every night looks like for me. 3AM(ish), almost like clockwork

Christ... I have never had an average glucose of 7.1. On occasions it's been about 7.7 but I see an average of 8.0 as a success.

If I got my average glucose to that level the price I'd pay would be going low all the time. Do you have a low-carb diet to avoid big spikes?
