Can anyone help I have had a sore throat for nearly a week now as well as a slight cough, I would go to my Doctors but the next available appointment isn't till next week and there are stingy with emergency appointments, my sugars have been higher than normal, and today my skin feels hot and im slightly drowsy and nauseous.
Any ideas what it could be? :(

you sound like you just have a cold :(

i have one too and my bgs are up, i wouldnt worry but im no expert :)
Any ideas what it could be? :(

no not at all! if anyones stupid its me messing up the quote thingy on the app lol

im just saying you probly have a cold and dont worry about your bgs being raised during this its quite normal for our bodies to push them up while fighting off stuff, you may well need to see the quack, being concerned about your health is never stupid, its why we are here, imho its the people that arent worried about themselves that are stupid

If it helps, NicolaAnne, there's some strange cold wotsits around, ATM. I don't often get them but one got hold of me late last month and wouldn't let go.

Most peculiar it was. It started in my throat, a day or two later went up into my head and two days later disappeared. Two days after that it started the whole thing over again, with more-or-less the same timescales, before clearing completely after a fortnight.

Quite a few work colleagues are currently complaining of colds that just 'seem to be hanging-on' so it seems to be a fairly widespread problem.
 
I seem a lot better today although my sugars are no better, BG reading of 13.6 at 10:45 correction of 4.8 units of insulin and 2 hours later it was 16 and I do not know why its horrible as my mouth feels kind of dry even though I am drinking plenty :(

Hi

I've got the same thing... some sort of cold virus. I've had it since last Tuesday. Sore throat, and a bit of a cough but no runny/blocked nose either. weird, huh? :crazy:
It seems to get a little better, and then the next day, wham! it's back as bad as ever. For the last couple of days, I've had pain
in my ears - blocked eustachian (sp?)tubes, thank goodness for google lol! If I yawn or burp I get a sharp pain in one or both of my ears. ouch! I can hardly hear anything at the moment, sounds like "being under water" complete with gurgling sounds ... weird. :crazy: Chewing and swallowing sounds incredibly loud though!! :lol:

I haven't had any real rise in my BG's - might be down to taking paracetamol at regular intervals, keeps my temperature down.
I've also been taking a sugar free cough medicine, which strangely enough taste quite nice (and sweet!)

I got this lurgy from my other half - he's had it for 2 weeks - so I reckon I've got at least another week of it :cry: Worst thing at the moment is coughing keeping me awake at night. Hope you and everyone else who's got (and me!) it feel better soon.
