So went on holiday, my libre ran out 5 days in and didn't have test strips.
Im a nightmare when I don't test, I don't know why but the libre just makes me much more accountable.
I know it's expensive - superdrug just raised the price from £35 to £40 . I am such a wimp about finger prick testing. I am actually a nurse and I was always rubbish bg testing even then! I feel really ashamed of this, particularly with everything people with type 1 have to do. In my defence I always seem to have to jab myself several times since I never seem to get blood out easily.
Sorry guys, I know I'm a wimp. But my bg is now back to normal.

If it helps, the libre has also made me test a lot more than I ever did before, I never liked testing (I still don't - my fingers don't like it at all) and I didn't test even close to as much as I should've done. I guess we just both need the libre :)

Oh thankyou so much! And I see you have type 1. I was a community nurse and one of the reasons I stopped was because I loathed taking blood samples from people. Most of the time it went fine but on the rare occasion I caused a bruise I felt terrible.
Anyway thank god for the libre!

I leave my monitor at home when I go on holiday but I’m not an avid tester anyway so it does not worry me if I cannot test.

I think this is a subject not often covered ( or understood), how CGM gives you a forewarning of your result.

It makes a huge difference to me as testing 'blind' often means I don't test - I have little hyper awareness so I have no idea often what range I'm in

I guess if I kept 'not controlling' my blood sugar then the symptoms would start to pile in!! But at present unless I'm wearing a libre I really really have no awareness of what's going on. So a cgm would give better awareness??
