I've been type 2 for 3 years but not on pills yet.I try and not eat sugars and tatties and rice but my nurse and doctor don't like me doing this. They say I should eat these things but they put my blood sugars up.

Not my job to judge your DR and DSN but.....,look at the low carb advice on this forum.

Frankly I no longer care that it's not our job to tell it like it is (sorry Mike!)
Your doctor and nurse are completely irresponsible to tell you to eat empty carbs when you are already diabetic and intolerant to those foods.
Dell84, you are absolutely right in what you are doing. Anyone who tells you otherwise wasn't paying attention in 1st year medical school and ought to be ashamed of themselves.

All the best,

fergus

your Guardian angel obviously directed you here to save you from being murdered by stupid dietary advice. If they try coercing you again, ask them to go back to their undergrad textbooks and check that carbs are NOT necessary in the human diet.. Also get a copy of Dr. Bernstein's diabetes solution and read it to boost your confidence. Bernstein is our bible and he forbids his patients any more than 30g carb per day. What you found for yourself is correct. Carbs put your blood sugar up! You don't need them. They WILL even up your BG levels, at consistently high.
