Hey. I'm katlin I live in the United states. I'm 16 years old and have been a diabetic since I was nine years old. I started off as a type two diabetic just taking oral medication. On my 16th birthday I went to a new specialist who said I should have been in insulin from the start. I inject two different types of insulin and also take oral medication. I'm hoping to become friends with many of you. It will be a relief being around other people who go through the same thing I do. Even though I've been diabetic for some time now I do not know much. I simply know the basics any information is helpful!
 
hi kitty, welcome to the group, have a read around and ask as many questions as you can, about anything you want to. someone here has been in the same boat.

Hi and welcome. Glad to hear you are now on what appears to be the right medication. I suspect you were never actually a T2 but your T1 came on slowly. Quite a few of us have been thru the same process as many physicians don't understand that T1 due to beta cell failure can come on at various rates and even at any age. If you have any questions do ask as someone may be able to share their experience. I assume your blood sugar is under reasonable control but if not do ask questions on the T1 forum.
