Are you type 1 or type 2?

Wow highs of 17 before eating is high, I am type 1 and don't see highs that high even after food!!

I thought it was the machine so tested twice and it was the same ....... I never thought it was such. Hard thing to control. Im so niave .......... 9.3 tonight before eating ........

Very difficult to control with no med. Try to cut back on carbs and get plenty of exercise if you can. Have a Google of lchf diet plans

Thank you so much- the doctor referred me to diabetes DR but said diet, excercise and see you in 9 months ! Not very helpful at all - will look at diets

This forum is a wealth of information, there is a whole area on prediabetes as well as one on lchf eating
Good luck on this journey, any questions feel free to ask on here or message me

Hey @Chipiez...I'm afraid I don't know too much about pre diabetes but seems strange to me that your blood sugars drop after eating, I'm going to tag a couple of people @Brunneria, @nosher8355 who may be able to shed some light on this, but I would certainly get yourself back to the doctors and see if you can get some more tests done.

Best of luck getting to the bottom of it all x

Hi,

Thanks @Natalie1974

Have a read of these threads, @Chipiez and see if they ring any bells for you.

You would be surprised how many people arrive here with similar experiences.
I myself had this happen for years before I actually became diabetic. If only I had known then what I know now, I might have held off the diabetes for much longer - possibly indefinitely. :)

When you've had a good read, ask any questions you like.

Have read them......maybe, but RH talks about low BS but mine appear high........its like im hyperglycemic, just tested after 2 hours eating and they are 7.8 now ........
I think i shall go see doctor again. Im keeping a record and times etc , also going to try the low carb diet see if that helps. It certainly has educated me on how hard diabetes can be .-thank you all for your advice x

Brilliant - glad to have helped.

A doctor's diagnosis is definitely a priority.

Do you have a blood glucose meter at home?
It would be very interesting to find out when your blood glucose starts to rise. At some point it must go from 6-8 at 2 hrs after eating, to the high teens before food.

Maybe you could work out the timing, or if a particular activity or stressor is causing it.

I do have a monitor- i have a accu chek, but have ordered a codefree as they are cheaper - i feel like im on a rollercoster x

Diagnosed with pre- diabetes !! Hba1c level 47- i also have high chloresteral, high blood pressure ( metabotic syndrome) which was diagnosed at same time 3 weeks ago- im on Orlistat for weight loss so am on a fat free diet- but having read some of the forums, think i would be better trying the low carb diet - i have been eating salads everyday with either chicken or egg. Cereals for breakfast and then 2 rich tea biscuits as a snack -

Would it be fair to question if this is still just a 'pre diabetic' case?
Appears that the natural basal release is not sufficient to maintain bg within safe ranges.
Anything above 14-15 mmol/l will cause complications. Not to mention tiredness and absolute no hunger before mealtime.

Hi @Chipiez
Sorry to hear about your problems.
How often do you snack?
If you are snacking an hour before your meal that could elevate your blood glucose levels.
So the after meal is lower than your pre meal.
The fat free foods you are eating have added sugars to replace the fat.
I would try and limit your biscuits and dump the cereals as they are full of carbs and sugars.

You will have to speak to your doctor about what is happening to you.

Thanks everyone- what does everyone eat for breakfast? Im trying to work out meals but im struggling with breakfast. Im keeping a diary. The high reading of 17 - were without snacks i hadnt eaten for 5.5 hours the 12 reading was 4 hours without food ...... The lowest ive got it down is 5.2 - i only tested as i was feeling awful . X
