Am really at my wits end....

About two months ago a had my first session of Laser eye surgery following a bleed in my eye...It was definitly a wake-up call and made some huge life changes in terms my diabetes control/diet/excercise the works.... I went back for my follow up yesterday the eye they operated on has shown signs of improvement (Yey!) but the other eye (which I havent had surgery on) has got worse? But they have said the damage shown is likely to be because of improved control??

Has anyone else had similar? Since I have tried to take control of my diabetes and have improved my BGs dramatically I just feel rubbish all the time!!! exhausted, aches, its really frustrating!

Interesting and apparently not unusual given other threads on here. I'm having my first appointment with the optical specialist at the hospital tomorrow so I'll see what that brings.

I am not sure whether you are on medication, but if you are it could be that making you feel bad. I went on to metformin for about four or five weeks and couldn't understand why I was getting horrible abdominal pains all the time. I came off it of my own accord because I was feeling exhausted and weak, but now I think the abdominal pains were caused by the drug too. After a week being off it, they are finally beginning to subside.

Noblehead - thanks for the link,

I guess Im in a bit of a double-edged sword scenario then for the next few years then but I guess the rapid deterioration in the short term but controlled in the long is a better option than the other road I was on,

Thanks all - such a frustrating illness sometimes!!

Yes it is a VERY frustrating illness at times and a big pain in the behind as well. I also have had laser treatment ( the 1st time Nov 2011) and it seems to be getting worse :( :? !!!!!!!

Welcome aboard

So, if you don't do anything you may go blind, if you do something you may go blind...

Regarding the laser surgery that I have had, it does seem to be a vicious circle. Everytime I have had laser surgery.............. the next day I have a bleed........ :(

Did you no longer feel exhausted and weak after you came off the metformin? I have been on it for 6 weeks now and feel terrible
