Hi everyone :)

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about a week ago, and I was told I'd had it for a couple of months.

For 2 or 3 years I have been wearing contact lenses (-4.25 dioptres).

A few days ago I noticed that my sight has drastically improved. I have not been able to find any info about this, so maybe some of you have experienced or heard something like this.

Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

it's the 'sugar' leaving your lens and such, it makes it swell.
your T1 has been coming on for a few years, is my guess

welcome and ask lots of questions, it's a shock to the system and it can be scary at first.

Sounds very odd as type 1 generally comes on much quicker unlike type 2 which can go undiagnosed for years, see (pardon the pun) it as one good thing that has come out of your diagnosis :)

I usually wear glasses for reading and driving. But for a few days before diagnosis as type 1 when i had glasses on everything was blurry but without them was crystal clear. For a few years before i use to get really sore eyes like hayfever but now i dont.

I had the symptoms for a few months but didn't realize something was wrong :/

Jack412's comment is spot on.

Your prescription can go all over the place when your sugars are a bit haywire.

Are you saying your prescription has gone down from -4.20DS??

Yes, but not much. And it's slowly going back to -4.25
