In desperate need of help...and sleep!! :(

Hiya guys, I had to post here, even if it is 4am...I have this muffling problem - I walked a short distance (about a mile) to my new workplace - just got a new job yay!) and back again on Monday and Wednesday this week and my legs have been aching since then!! There is literally NOTHING I can do to relieve the pain, it's my calf muscles they just ache so bad I could cry!! I've tried ibruprofen gel on them but not too keen to take tabs as it upsets my tummy...I just don't know what else to do!! I am starting my new job as a care assistant next Friday and obviously I am going to be on my feet the whole day so I really would appreciate any sort of advice about this as it's stopping me from getting any sleep too :(

Thanks in advance.

You could try some deep heat or the cooling spray. If it's muscles that you have pulled then this should work. Sounds like you need to strengthen your calf muscles too. Keep at the walking and the pain should, hopefully, improve in time :)

I've tried deep heat and no effect...I could try cooling spray but my legs and feet are always cold! Won't it make them feel colder? :/ it's now gone down to my ankles and I was practicing ballet when I got outta bed this morning! (aka couldnt put my feet to the floor!) ahhhhh it's just soooo annoying!! :/ I got 5 hours sleep in the end but I can't function properly on anything less than 8!! I hope they stop aching soon... I'd go put an take a walk everyday to strengthen them but it's impossible with this much painnnn!! :(

You need to see your GP to find out what the cause is IMHO.
We can all make suggestions here that may or may not be helpful but this is something that needs a medical opinion.

As catherinecherub says :)

It could just be a simple thing like putting inserts in your shoes. But as no one knows the problem no one can advise.

Just a thought. Are you taking a statin?
After starting on Crestor (Rosuvastatin) I developed similar problems, felt like an old man.
Really quite frightening, but stopped taking it & I recovered completely.

Thanks every1 sorry for my delay in replying but any advice helps :) and yes I'm taking Atorvastatin and have been for a while...it cud just be that I've been lazy and my legs can't handle all the new pressure! Lol x

My husband suffered with statins but has now got medication balanced better [ he uses arnica linctus to rub in his legs which eases the muscular pains brought on by his post polio syndrome problems]

I would recommend a chat with your GP as others have suggested however try some good quality support tights they really can help, just be careful of your feet as they can be a bit tight around the tootsies. If you're wearing trousers you could cut off the feet and wear your normal socks. Good luck :)

I agree with everyone who says see your doctor because the muscle pain really sounds excessive after simple walking and statins can have serious side effects.

If you are going to stay on statins, it would be wise to add CoQ10 to your supplements as it helps with muscle recovery and is gradually depleted by statins.

I'd also be taking magnesium as we rarely get enough in our diet and it too helps with muscle recovery.

All the best with it,
