Inaccuracy Freestly Libre 2

Hi, I have had the freestyle Libre 2 for a fair while now-6 month’s
Am having real trouble getting any high alarms, alarms are on & I use my phone to scan (this way my DSN can see my data)
The other day I scanned - 21.9 & level arrow, finger prick said 14
This has happened on a few occasions.
Rang Freestlye & all they do is send out a replacement, must have had going on about 10 replacements from them within the last 4 months
I have emailed my DSN about this recent error
I am really sick of the inaccuracy & no alarms- have had several conversations with the company about this & still it isn’t working
Does anybody have similar issues or any advice?

Regarding the alarms, are you confident with the Bluetooth on your phone?
This technology is known to be unreliable. Samsung phones seem to report more Bluetooth problems than other brands.

It has often been mentioned on this forum and others that Libre (and other CGMs) are calibrated to be accurate in “Normal” numbers. It is known to be inaccurate above 10mmol/l where is, typically, over records highs. This is the reason why it is strongly recommended never to correct highs (or lows) without checking with a finger prick test.

I am concerned you have often seen numbers this high. Do you understand what is causing these highs and are you doing anything to reduce them?
 
In Mid-December, I started using a Dexcom 6 CGM. My device has to be calibrated occasionally to ensure the most accurate results. Basically, what I have to do is to compare the CGM results with my meter results and then enter my meter results if they differ from the CGM results. This helps the device more accurately reflect how the CGM interprets your individual body's glucose readings. Everybody is a bit different, everybody's blood glucose can present slightly differently on different devices. I know through experience that sometimes even using the same company's meters can give different results when testing with the same drop of blood! Be a little suspicious if your CGM says you need to raise your carb level, but you feel perfectly normal, or, vice versa.
 
This prompted me to check my latest Libre 2.
Frighteningly accurate, almost the same as my finger prick.
This, I must say, isn't usual.
Also, being accurate early on doesn't mean it will be accurate by the end of the 14 days.
My last one went down to the basement and more or less stayed there for the last couple of days.

Alarms - logically you should either get the alarms, or get an alarm to say that your phone can't contact the sensor.
Certainly my alarms work (different phone, mine is a Realme 6 Pro).
I find the Libre 2 less sensitive to being out of range (unless the range has increased).
Hmmm...that would be the phone App complaining less, I suppose.

Yes the alarms are all on
I get signal loss alarms fine, also yes my Bluetooth works ok (iPhone 8)
I am having highs regularly (this is why I’m so frustrated that the Libre isn’t going what it should be)
About 4/5 years ago I was in Dexcom - was good but then my job changed & couldn’t afford it
Just tbh this is getting me down a bit- have lost a bit of confidence
My estimated HBA1C is terrible- 7.6

I don’t seem to handle lots of carbs that well & my injection sites aren’t great even though I do rotate.
Diabetes is running me at the moment & struggling
 
So I emailed my nurse as my control has not been good
So far today I have already given 4 injections
On the Freestly Libre at 12.24 pm -it was 15.6 & slightly rising, gave 2 units now at 13.40- it’s 15.7

the response from my nurse was it has to be down to over used injection sites & insulin taking longer to be absorbed

I am trying my best with my diabetes- have a healthy diet & regular exercise

Any thoughts ?
 
@Jess1D both yourself and the nurse suspect injection sites. The nurse really should see you, inspect the areas and ascertain if that’s correct. Ring your hospital team.

I don’t know what you mean by hospital team (clinic) as wanted to bring that forward & was going to mention it to my nurse but by her reply I haven’t yet

Just wondering what are your thoughts on this-so suffering with high blood sugars after anything 15grams of carbs or more - even though I carb count correctly
Been diabetic a long time- my nurse says it’s because my sites are overused - therefore insulin taking longer to absorb
Having highs most mornings - apart from when I low carb for breakfast
Spoke to her today & she has suggested metformin may be worth trying
Is this right? Should I try it?
