Increase in blood sugar

Hey folks.

Please help!!

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and over the past few days I've noticed that my blood sugar has increased an hour after my meals. Could this be due to the baby? Do you think I need to increase my insulin by a couple to compensate. I'm really confused and disheartened. Please help.

Thank you.

What are your levels 2 hr after a meal and pre meals? If you increase your insulin because of higher levels 1hr after a meal you may well run into hypo land 3-5 hours after the meal.
Quick acting insulin is not working at its peak 1 hour after a meal, and again the qty of fat in the meal can also affect how your insulin will work with your food.
Measuring 1 hour after a meal isnt really the norm.. It would normally be 2hrs after a meal.

I think because I'm pregnant it's the norm to test after an hour. I was 9.1 after my meal and 2.5 hours later I'm 8.1 (I had a teeny bit of pie with a very few oven chips and lots of veg)

I don't understand it. I really don't know what to do for the best. Is that a level that I should be worried about?

Thank you in advance.

Are your bloods for a whole day around 8 n 9's? What were you premeal?

Your healthcare team would probably want to see you a bit lower than this, but it really goes on a whol day readings rather than just meal times...

Basically if you were say 5.0 before a meal and jumping up to 9 and then 8 then your bolus may need alittle adjustment, but if 5 hours after your meal you have dropped back to say 5.0 again then there's other different options to look at.

Really to fully understand your dilemma it would be best to see ur blood readings and injection times for 24 hours

It's just been the last few days really. In the morning I'm between 8.8 and 10, was 8 after lunch and as stated above after tea. In between I have been 4-5.5.

I tried to call my nurse today, but she's off until Tuesday due to Easter. That's why I'm trying to scope advice from here!! :)

I have had good readings before the last three days. Jars why I just don't get it!! I have been less mobile due to the baby sitting on a nerve. Maybe that has something to do with it?
