Increasing av. BG levels as I increase my dose of Insulatard

Average BG levels are INCREASING as I increase my insulin. Very frustrating and not the way this script was supposed to play out. Any type-2s out there with any advice?

Why would my average BG be increasing as I add more insulin to my daily dose as instructed by my diabetes nurse?

Increased insulin resistance, maybe?

But that is pure speculation.

Type 2s are notorious for insulin resistance.

I had this problem when taking humilin. The nurse changed my insulin to humalog and its coming down now. You might need a change of insulin.

Thanks for the replies. I seemed to need to reach a "critical mass" of insulin before my body started to respond, and then it fell quite quickly. It would have been nice if the nurse had told me that wildly fluctuating BG levels might happen! It certainly seemed counter-intuitive that the more insulin I added, the higher my average BG.
