Increasing blood sugar

Lately, my post meal blood sugar is increasing. Earlier I used to tolerate 80-100 grams carbohydrates in a day but now my post meal sugars are high inspite of eating low carb.
I had cauli flower rice with tofu and mixed veggies, mixed veg curry, cucumber - 6 slices, 2 spoon of peanuts. Post 1.5 hours sugar = 122mg/dl (6.7mmol/l) which is high for me. Premeal sugar - 85mg/dl (4.7mmol/l)
1 year ago it would have been 110mg/dl (6.1mmol/l) or so.
Is my pancreas burning out or insulin resistance worsening?
Will get Hba1c done in March again.

Are you eating sufficient fat ? - if you lower carbs without replacing the energy you need, you may find that your liver will turn more of the meal into sugar for fuel than you would like.
 
Hi saky - is it possible that there's a bit more carb creep than you're aware of? I certainly found that in my first couple of years after starting low carb i was very vigilant about everything I ate. That relaxed a bit as time went on and I got to target weight.

It can mean that - for example- I have two low carb buns in a day instead of the usual one: not highly significant except that it's an additional 6g carb and if it's been a 24/25g day already from other sources I can find myself unexpectedly out of ketosis, or with a higher than expected reading. And something like a vegetable curry can have unexpected effects given that the carb content of veg isn't always that predictable - tomatos are all over the place in terms of how much carb they have.

Sometimes a short fast - 24 hrs, 8pm to 8pm - can give your system a bit of a bump back to where it was, as can a totally zero carb day. Or it's possible that your liver might have had a few ideas of its own about where your BG should be based on stress or illness or activity, and upped your circulating glucose.
 
Yes correct. Am not eating adequate fat. Trying to reduce saturated fat in my diet as my ldl is high. I also have family history of heart disease.
Will try adding more tofu.

Yes. Some veggies have more carb content especially onions, carrots...

I think intermittent fasting for 12 -13 can help . i will increase the time between meals.
My liver never dumps sugar during post meal time.
Even my fasting sugar never been more 95mg/dl.

Sorry for jumping in … so I’m im trying to reduce carbs to get my bs levels reduced, should I be eating full fat milk/cheese/yogurt etc … like the original poster my cholesterol is high and was told to switch to low fat

I suppose you just need to be clear in your own mind what is being replaced in these low-fat versions.
In my experience, it's all stuff that causes my blood glucose to rise, and thus my insulin - so it just works against what I'm trying to acheive.

I understand that there is a strong fear of fat, and I struggled with that for a long time myself - I was definitely someone who struggled to eat fat till relatively recently. But, even in the most balanced reading of this, the risk to my health (including heart health) is greater if my blood glucose is out of control, so that takes priority.
