After years of sticking needles into the tummy my tummy surface hurts. Any ideas out there on what to do about it, prevent it happening…?

Give your stomach area a rest and try injecting elsewhere.

This same problem happened to me years ago it happened because I was injecting too many times in one place constantly and the muscles beneath became too hard and lumpy, please rotate your injection sights Lionel12 they should change every 3 months on average ok

Give your tummy a rest. If you keep injecting in the same place you will get lipohypertrophy, basically very lumpy sites where your insulin will not absorb so quickly!
