Hi everybody. I was diagnosed with Type 1 just a year ago at the age of 76. Bit of a shock but I seem to have settled into a routine so it doesn't really impact my life too much, but I'm still finding out stuff that is probably really basic to most of you. Right now I want to ask for some advice about injection sites.

We're told its important not to inject into the same place too often to avoid 'lumpy bits' in the subcutaneous fat which would make absorbtion of the injected insulin harder. To my mind (when I had a job I was a scientist - the nerdy sort) - that means having a system for knowing where to inject each day, and I've worked out a very simple system to help. I could improve it, but need to know - how far apart would two injection sites have to be in order to still count as separate sites? Obviously if they are too close they would effectively become the same site so far as the creation of lumpy bits is concerned. Is there any established knowledge on this, or can anyone offer some informed advice? Thanks in advance for any replies.

1 to2 cm apart. There is other locations you can use instead of stomach. Side of your thighs and alongside bum are also recommend go for the more fatty areas of those

Hi and welcome

Seasoned lunatic of 50 years here and this is what i do.....

My larger dose of levemir 10 units and 14 units i use my legs and my back side.
Lol i cannot see my own backside but can feel it go in.

The smaller doses of novorapid i use my stomach and if i need to inject in the dark at night time i use my arms.

Theres plenty of room to rotate but my preferred site is my backside but that can be a bit awkward in the middle of Nandos......

I used to use one side of the stomach in the morning and exactly the opposite in the evening. I would continue by gradually aiming further across, then dropping down. But this does rely on memory somewhat!
