Has anyone else noticed a difference when you change the injection site for long release insulin?

I find injecting into my belly far more effective than when I inject into my thigh.

Am I fantasising here or has anyone else noticed this?

Yes and if you go in the arm with fast actioning is normally even faster

One thing to remember is that fat density and muscle amount/density change all over the body so it's only sound reasoning that absorption will change

In the same way blood test are more reliable from finger blood that alternative sites

Hi
I have never noticed and tend to use my bum and legs for background and stomach for fast acting.

Years ago a specialist told me the most effective place to inject is between the shoulder blades!!!
I have never known whether this was true.

Good luck

OK that's good information and is backed up by other anecdotal evidence. Seems strange that this isn't being passed on by the Diabetic team to me, it's certainly led to some head scratching around variable efficacy of the insulin.

Thanks.

I'm old skool when it comes to jabs as 50 years ago the needles were like harpoons to a six year old!
The 4mm today are a doddle and often inject in the dark and go by the number of clicks.

There was a post recently about someone terrified at the sight of a needle and i pointed out you actually don't need to look at it.

With my long acting I've never noticed a difference. I usually use my arms, but have done thigh, bum and belly too.
My quick acting usually goes in my belly, occasionally in my arm. I've never noticed a difference with this either.

I'm so tempted to try! :hilarious:
Rather hard to reach though so I might have to ask a friend to help me.
Having a first date with someone tomorrow, think I should ask him? Should break the ice in a rather spectacular way...

"spectacular" is an understatement and i'm sure would be a first on any date ever!

Good luck with the date

I find legs faster than stomach (which is fatter!)

I have tried splitting doses half in one leg then half in the other thinking the insulin might get round a bit quicker but again never noticed any improvement....

I had a theory the two lots might meet up and join forces going round a bend. lol

Then again i believe insulin resistance is caused by the insulin hiding behind a corpuscle then after a day or two it jumps out and starts to play........

Tony wanders off whistling a jaunty tune...

Happy Friday

Mountain out of mole hill makers ,queues , crowds , shopping on a Saturday hmm just shopping I guess no matter what day it is
I must admit I don’t notice much difference if any difference , personally as long as I rotate I’m not bothered , the issue if you find a site which you think is quicker it can easily become your go to site which can then led to less rotation which in itself brings issues

For me, belly works better for fast insulin, but legs seem to kick in quicker for the long-acting stuff. I just mix it up so I don’t get lazy with one spot.
