I have been T2 on insulin for 10 years and am finding it very hard to get my needle fully through my skin. If I push it in too soon, I can see the mixture dribble down my stomach. I don't have a lot of loose flesh on my legs. Can anyone offer hints please about getting insulin inside me, and not wasted? Most grateful.

Hi there.

Almost sounds like you are using blunt needles? Are you rotating the injection sites regularly?
When you hold the pen to inject, grip it from the side perpendicular to the skin & do not touch the button until the needle is has peirced the skin. After administering the dose, wait a few seconds before withdrawing the needle from the skin.

Hope this helps.

Lyn, as you have been on insulin for a while, do you have any harder lumps at your injection sites, and do you rotate where you inject - around your tummy, legs and so on?

I don't know if this will help. I am a type 1 in my 50's. I have found injecting in my tummy difficult for a few years - nothing to do with needles or fatty lumps. But as my skin has gotten older and drier the top layer is quite hard to inject through. So I moisturise the area daily and that seems to do the trick. Just trying to help.
