Levimer is a timed injection, you inject this at the set time every day, you might find that you have to change the timing slightly to get best effect on control of your background levels, but once you sussed the best time then you should idealy inject everyday at this time, an occasional 1/2 hour each way isn't going to make much differenc to over all control..

The novorapid, in the main you inject this about 10 mins before you eat..

But if you BG is at the low end of 4 or in high 3's I would leave the injection until I had eaten the meal other wise it may send you too low as the insulin starts to work, but hasn't got enough glucose to work with..

Sometimes the fat content of the meal might determin whether it's better to inject before or after a meal, it's a case of trial and error... But with injecting insulin before meals and BG is lowish do so with caution though, and have some fast acting carbs ready just in case..

Thank you for your help the only thing i have with levemeir when working nights i inject at 5pm and 5am but 2 days later im on rest 2 days and i get up about 8am so i have to inject 8am and 8pm its awkward when work shift work. sorry about cap lock

Shift work is difficult, when you take your levimer at 8am does it make a lot of difference to your control?

I say this because before I went onto the insulin pump, I injected my levimer at 11pm and 11.30am sometimes for some people, as slightly off set time of injecting works better than a strick 12 hour split?

If you are doing shift work, it might be an idea to ask your diaebtic team if you can be funded for an insulin pump, this would enable have different profiles (amount of background insulin deliver durning a 24 hour period) I have 4 different profiles on my insulin pump set up (max 5) nonwork day, active non-work day, 2 work profiles depending which kennel blocks I'm working in at work... I just swapped to the appropiate profile as required, if I have an half day at work, I switch back to non-work day when I finish... It makes controlling my diabetes a lot easier and a lot better as well
