Type 2 injections?

I know this isn't the right place but I want yo ask a question as I'm about to go on injections, victoza v insulin and my current medical issues but I can't work out how to put a new discussion up I'm nit getting any options

Thank you for the help. I have been on various tablets for the last few years but my hb1ac is 82 and I've been advised I need to inject. I have had no guidance but told I need to decide before my next appt with a consultant between victoza and bydureaun ...I have looked at them both by doing my own research I have dismissed bydureaun but victoza is a pssible except I'm reading some real horror stories about side effects which are scaring me. I already have labryntitus which gives me vertigo regularly so I'm worried the victoza will make it worse and there been no mention of this when I had the discussion via a phone call with the nurse I also have ibs again I'm worried about victoza side effects. I know I could lose done weight on it which would be great but why not go straight to insulin. My brother has been on insulin for twenty years. I know I pits on weight but it's manageable isn't it if I up my exercise which I can do after March as I am about to retire then. Any advice on here will be more than I have had from anyone else so thank you in advance

What would be the harm in trying Victoza?
Yes Insulin was better for me. However I tried victoza first. I lost weight but my bgs were no different but I wasn't watching my carbs strictly like now.
Yes the nausea got too much for me and I stopped it. I was told resently that I should have given it longer. Back on the metformin I went. My gp added glaclazide and off I went... misinformed and eating seeded bread, pasta and rice as my bases of my meal. Vegtables and lots of fruit.
I'm now not surprised glaclazide and metformin stopped working leaving me with ibs/chronic diarrhea for months.
Insulin dependant I became with great carb awareness.
Low carbing should have been done from the first day I was diagnosed. (I feel)
Insulin taking has its own issues. I'm finding very little stability in my bgs. I'm taking about half of the insulin I was 6mths ago and would like to give it up all together. Low carbing can do that but for me only intermittently at mo. I'm working on it thou.
I guess thinking about it I knew I'd end up on insulin because I knew the benefits from when I was on it when I was pregnant (twice).
I am guaranteed a lower bg with insulin but my only complaint is I personally have to take high doses to get perfect bgs. So weight gain on top of being extremely overweight already.

Thank u for that reply. Metformin didn't work for me it caused all my labryntitus and vertigo to escorted and working full time that was not a good thing to happen and I feel victoza could do the same, yes I'm considering trying but that's my worry, will it do the same as meteor in and there are also risks of pancreatic cancer and I lost my husband to cancer a few years ago on his 60th birthday, I can't face that. I really Sam very confused to be honest.

I would not get worried about it, as there are plenty of diabetic tablets to choose from these days. What works for one person may not work for another. I was prescribed last May (2015) a drug that brought my HBA1C down from 81 to 62 in November and I lost 2 stone also it is called DAPAGLIFLOZIN and it it taken just once a day. Why not ask if you could go on that? One small problem though, it a bit like a diuretic - makes you pass urine a lot more than usual.
 
@liam1955 im on canagliflozin once a day as well as insulin.
I think they are related. (Work the same way).
Mind u I was put on insulin first and the canagliflozin was to reduce the insulin usage to help lose weight. I'd added 2lb over Christmas but had lost 6lb before.
Roll on next month. ;-)
 
I already take this one along with gliclazide and sitagliptin but they've all stopped working for me now and I only lost about half a stone since starting on dapa
 
Hi. If you are overweight then it's worth trying the Victoza as it should help you lose some weight. Insulin won't help with weight loss and if you are overweight with insulin resistance then you might end up adding insulin when you are already overloaded with it. If you are not already trying low-carb to control both weight and blood sugar it may help you avoid Victoza after a while?

Been on Victoza and Sitagliptin and Liraglutide and they did absolutely nothing for me. Bear in mind that Insulin can make you put on weight - it did with me!!! I've got another stone to loose yet - but the Endocrinologist last year was pleased that I had lost 2 stone and that was down to taking the Dapagliflozin. You need to sit down with the Diabetic Nurse and discuss other options. William.
 
I haven't had much opportunity to discuss any of this with the clinic, it's in and out most times with not a lot of time to discuss stuff like this. I have a list of questions written down now for when I go next time. However if u read the original message I said
I have labryntitus and regular vertigo, had for several years and I am worrying about victoza making this even worse, I have had two hospital stays with this and really can't face that happening again it was very unpleasant plus I am working full time. I know that insulin makes u put on weight but it doesn't have to, if I make a big effort to up my exercise hopefully. My brother is on insulin only, he tried victoza but it did nothing for him, my sister also did and lost a lot of weight but it made her pretty sick......

Yes the Dapagliflozin and Canagliflozin are from the same group. I was put on that because being on Insulin since July, 2014 I put on weight ( and I was also taking 20000mg a day of Metformin -still on it) - as I have previously said to PamelaJane, I have tried Victoza for 6 months and I tried Liraglutide for 6 months and tried Sitagliptin for 6 months all 3 did absolutely nothing for me. But, the Dapagliflozin is brilliant as I lost 2 stone, my BMI came down and my HBA1C came down from 81 to 62, and the Endocrinologist was "over the moon" and has left me on Dapagliflozin (began taking it May 2015).
