INJEX is a reusable, needle-free medication injector that uses spring technology to deliver medication subcutaneously (in the fatty tissue under the skin) without the use of a needle. Injex has proven to be clinically effective for use with all known insulin types. Most patients who have tried Injex have come to love our innovative product for its ease of use, convenience, virtually pain-free injections, and durability. Good news: Injex is available on the NHS at this time and can be purchased through your local distributor: O'CON Chemicals. They will be in contact with you shortly regarding your request. Partnering with Injex: We are partnering with your local distributor, O'CON Chemicals, to assist in spreading the news about our new innovative medical device, Injex. In order to transform the medical industry by changing the way that injections are given at hospitals and clinics, we would like you to partner with Injex and O'CON Chemicals. You, a diabetes nurse practitioner, can help Injex by telling people about our innovative product, explaining the benefits to them, as well as by sharing the attached brochures with them. If you know of other specialists at your hospital which might be interested, we encourage you to assist us in carrying out our mission.[/quote] I am keen to try this pen and am wondering if anyone on here either has one or has tried one. Today my DNS told me that she has been conversing with her manager about ordering this pen for me. It turns out that they cost around £150 each and i would need 2 of them. unfortunately because no-one at my hospital has ever used one they asked the supplying company if they provide reps for training and they said no, just a training DVD. Because of this i have been told that the hosiptal will not provide one and i have to go to my GP to ask him to 'fund' for me to get one and i have to ask the supplying company for training on how to use it. This seems very strange to me. Something that is currently provided on the NHS has no-one within the NHS that can show me how to use it?? :? So now, because I am 99% sure my GP will have never heard of it, I have to print out as much information as possible for him to look at, for him to then decide if he is willing to get me funding to try one out and for me to then contact the supplying company to provide me training on how to use it. This seems very long winded to me. I guess i'm not going to be trying this pen any time soon. :( Any info anyone can give me to help in my quest of attaining this illusive Injex pen is much appreciated. :D</span></p></blockquote><p></p>
[QUOTE="redrevis, post: 141032, member: 27435"] Hello again I am one of these people who has a hightened fear of needles compared to 'normal' people. I have been diagnosed with type 1 for about a week and have been injecting 4 times a day. When i had my initial meeting with my DNS i asked her about the Insulin Jet system as i had already researched types of insulin administration beforehand. She hadn't heard of it and had no information for me. She actually asked me to provide her with any information i could find and she would look into it for me, great! This is what i have found: There used to be the Mhi-500® and SQ-Pen® systems available on the NHS, but as of 10th June 2010 they have been removed from the drug tarrif. The only insulin jet system now available on the NHS is the Injex Pen. www.injex.com I have tried to attach a brochure for the Injex Pen and it's instruction manual, which gives a lot more information regarding it's use, but PDfs seem to not be allowed, so i've uploaded them. Here are the links: http://pdfcast.org/pdf/injex-brochure http://pdfcast.org/pdf/injex-instruction-manual [color=#FF0000](How come i can't use [url] code? mods?)[/color] Here is a quote from an email to me regarding the Injex pen from the Assistant General Manager at Injex: [quote]We manufacture the latest technology for needle-free drug injection, called the INJEX Needle-Free Medication Injection System.
