Hi,
My name is michele and I've been an insulin dependent diabetic since I was 12 (I'm 53 now), and I use a Roche spirit pump.
I have also had necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum (what a mouthful!) since I was about 14, and went through lots of horribly painful cortisone injections in my shin which didn[t actually help, Over the years, they have lightened a bit, improved when i was taking homeopathic remedies for something else - and the same with acupuncture.
I just put up with the 'patches' and tried to ignore them and not walk into things! This was ok until recently when I got off my bicycle suddenly and the pedals swung round and hit me on the shin (ouch) then I went to A & E who just ignored it and tild me any shin injury would hurt. It still hurts a week later.

Anyway, back to the intro - i live in Kent, i'm married, I have a 21 yr old daughter at uni, a 29 yr old daughter who lives near by and 2 young grandaughters under 3; so lots of cuddles!
I am studying for an open degree at the moment.

..... oh, and I am coeliac :D

Welcome to the forum and I hope your shin stops hurting soon ;-)

Hi Michele and welcome to the forum :)
Anything you need to know, just ask as someone will be able to help.

Welcome fro me.

When I was diagnosed as T2 in mid June I knew nothing, and I mean nothing about diabetes.

I feel like I have been here for years and have learned such a lot.

This is a great forum and the 2nd site I visit everyday after Hotmail.

(Facebook being the 3rd....)
