I’ll try and be brief….. about 6 weeks ago I had what the Gp said was ‘a virus’ as I couldn’t stay awake at work, my blood sugars were in the 20’s and I had joint paint and muscle aches all over. I asked for a blood test but he said it wasn’t necessary. I’ve been type 1 for 48 years. I’ve not seen a consultant since 2020 and am between nurses as my diabetes clinic has closed. I was told in January that I’d have an appointment in May. It’s been cancelled until the end of July.
I’m now rudderless with a Gp who although he knows I’m still running in my 20’s,my hba1c has gone from 7 to 8 on my Libre, still maintains I don’t need a blood test. I’m also coeliac, on thyroxine and epilepsy meds, so weight gain is affecting those. Also my last nurse put me on Metformin as well as Fiasp and Tresiba. It was great. Plus I’m 57, have put weight on now and am seeing a personal trainer and on HRT. No change. It’s all making me really fed up. I’m wondering if I had Covid and it’s lingering or some other autoimmune thing like rheumatoid arthritis. I feel totally rubbish. Diabetes is something that you’re on your own with a lot as you’ll all know, and that along with hostile receptionists telling me it’s not my time for blood tests, means I’m feeling like a nuisance x
