I think it would be a lot easier to deal with if you were on a basal/bolus regime.
Is there any particular reason why you still use the 30/70?
hi if your carb ratio was say 1 unit of insulin to 10 grams of carb id say if a meal was 80grams of protien you minus the first 30grams the divide by 2 this would leave you 25grams of protien so would be 2.5units of insulin i have read this on another thread so hope its of some use to you xGuys I love a good smoke pit and bbq house think, True Reds, Bodeans bbq etc and in those places I usually go for slabs of slow cooked, pulled or BBQ meats with green veggies/salad etc so usually very very minimal carbs.
Question is how does one bolus for this because it sends my levels sky high over 4-5 hours later on the old 30/70 regime I guess allot of protein is being consumed and allot of the rubs/marinades etc probably have sugar/carbs in them right.
How is the protein bolus calculated?

The "30g" comes from the body first using all the protein that is needed to repair cells etc, before converting what's left to BG. (But the numbers will be different for each person.)
i think you would only bolus for protien if you were not eating carbs .i dont bolus for protien if im eating carbs if that makes senseThats interesting. I always
I always thought carbs and protein were different things?? I have never bolused for protein, only for carbohydrates
