Hi all,

New poster here.
Have been type 1 for about 12yrs, always with very good control About a year ago though, had a bad hypo seizure which completely knocked my confidence in my management and as a result, I tended to let my sugars run on the high side for fear of another seizure. I'd always resisted the idea of a pump as I didn't like the idea of something being attached to me but since that episode, have come more round to the idea as more of a necessity than a preference. Obviously the health benefits will outweigh my vanity concerns but could anyone please give me any reassurance in terms of wearing a pump while wearing tight-fitting clothes? The pump I can get is a tubed pump rather than an omnipod.

Thanks for any input and general pump advice.

I love my pump. Been on it for a year now. It can be worn on waist bands of trousers and skirts. In the winter I wear camisole vesty type things under my tops because I'm nesh. I buy cheap and cut a small hole to allow the pipe to come through so I can tuck my vest in.
You can tuck tops in without worrying - I've not had a problem.
Dresses - bit of a pain. I wear a bra top over my bra so I can keep it in there but it can look inappropriate getting at it. Though it doesn't seem to stick out noticeably.
Night time - I wear a vest top and clip it on the neck line so I'm not worried about lying on it.

Tight fitting - apparently you can get a garter type thing to keep it in place on your leg. I think you'll end up looking very FBI ish with a gun holster. Others I've heard wear Lycra shorts to tuck it in?
Hope that helps.

Thanks Mrs Vimes - some good ideas there. Just need to bite that bullet and organise the pump. Have heard mainly positive things with people saying they'd never go back to injections once on the pump.
Thanks for your input.

Hi I've had a pump since a was 14 am 21 now and it was the best decision I ever made. When I was 16 it was my prom and I had a panic of where do I put this in the end I put Lycra shorts on and it was safe and comfortable for the whole evening.
I tend to wear trousers with pockets in as I find it easier but you can clip the pump onto the waist band of skirts and trousers.
At night I clip it on to my underwear or I can clip it around the neck of my night shirt.
Hope this helps

When I wear tight clothes I either use my pump bra bag which is clipped to my bra strap under my arm so the pump hands down under my arm and usually can't be seen. If it's a really tight outfit and that doesn't work eg a very tight dress, I use a Tubigrip and put the pump in that so its held against my inner thigh.

You'll soon learn where best to put it for each outfit. It was strange to start with, but I don't give it a moment's thought now.

I love my pump and it's changed my life :)
