Insulin Pump. Smoking

Needles & Being Type 1 Diabetic & Being Partially Blind
Finally after 2 years of waiting i got a text off my diabetic nurse yesterday, next monday i get to see which pump will be best for me, iv been very nevous & over excited because i know its going to be life changing for me, is it nornal to feel like this lol?
I also wanted to ask for some oppinons on smoking i do smoke & when i first got diagnosed with diabetes they asked if i smoked as apparently something in cigs take up some carbs which i have noticed since iv been smoking my blood sugar has been going low, does anyone know if this will affect me more goin on the pump
Any advice please

Hi, I know smokibg is bad for me, im not a 20 cig a day person or chain smoke, i smoke around 3 - 5 cigs a day, iv been brough up with most to all my family smoking i said i would never do it but iv started smoking aroun a month or so ago it takes the stress away

As I understand it smokers are capable of having bits amputated when they do not have diabetes. The red blood cells which carry oxygen to all the parts of your body can equally well carry carbon monoxide instead which is no use to anybody. This alone can cause problems in the extremities since toes/feet etc. have reduced oxygen.

A diabetic who smokes just gets a double whammy since high blood sugar can also cause problems connected with circulation.
