Hi everyone, I've recently discovered an insulin Pump called Omnipod, and it sounds fantastic, however I've never been on a pump before I've always been on insulin injections (15 years) and I'm unsure about the process to transition, what would I need to do? X

Have a look in the pump forum as all info is there for you :)

You don't say if you've already been approved for pump funding, if not then have a look at the following which explains what criteria needs to be met in order for your consultant to apply for the funding:

The whole process can take anything from 3-12 months from discussion, approval to actually pumping insulin.

btw, the Omnipod Pump is a great pump but you would need to check if it's available through your pump clinic.

I would recommend this pump have been using just over a year now. I was also on injections for many 49 years! makes life much easier but takes time to learn management. In my area Suffolk DAPHNE course a requirement. Good luck

I'm been type 1 for 31 years and using the Omnipod for nearly 5 years. Like any pump it has its downs as well as ups but for me it's great as being wire free it's good for sports and anyone who like clothes in that it's easy to hide, comfortable and small. My HBa1's are in the normal range but you do have to put the work in and I do. It's not for everyone as it's not a quick fix and requires a good understanding to get the full benefits but that applies to any pump and not just Omnipod.
