Just a general question please regarding Insulin Pumps that are funded by the NHS.

My Hospital has requested funding for an Insulin pump I would be grateful if anybody indicate how long they have to wait for, I have done all the relevant courses etc so it is final say i am after from the CCG that i am interested in.

Fingers crossed I havn't got to wait too long.

Many thanks.

Everywhere is different. For me, although I wasn't actually told this, I believe that I had to wait for the new financial year before getting my pump. I was given approval by my consultant around October/November (I think) and my pump was available in April.

Hi

Just as my example. Having filled out final paperwork in Oct for funding - was approved in Dec get my pump 5th Feb.

Good luck

As the others have said, it seems to depend on your local area.
The only paperwork I completed was in July/August to say I was interested in finding out more.
I then completed all the necessary training (DAFNE-type course) in October/November and got a pump in January.

For me I went to clinic at the end of January, fought the Specialist Registrar for 45 minutes until he agreed to put me forward to the senior consultant and had a letter for pump clinic two weeks later.

I then refused to leave the pump clinic till I’d spoken to all the necessary people on the day, and had an appointment with the DSN 1-2-1 to get going within 4 weeks. No mention of paperwork.

But then I’m a bit pushy.
