Hello,
im 26 and been a type 1 diabetic for over 6 years now. Me and my partner are hoping to start trying for a baby very soon but my HBA1c is still high was 10 before christmas and this week it has come down but not enough to 8.5. I am seeingh my specialist on the 24th and i here good and bad reviews about the insulin pump. Can anybody share theire experiences with me? has it lowered your hba1c? have you/ do you know anyone who has had a insulin pump through pregnancy? Pro's cons?
Thank you in advance x

i cant help on the pregnancy front but my 8 yr old son started using a pump recently, i cant say how much his hba1c has changed yet but his levels are more stable and we get better numbers everytime, he feels alot more free than he did on injections and generally we have found the pump to be an asset that isnt to say it hasnt been hard work we had alot of sleepless nights and worry while we altered basals daily and it is tough to get ur head round all the different bits.

if u feel u want to try for a pump u may find u have a fight on ur hands as alot of areas arnt keen on the idea of pumps and getting funding agreed can be difficult having said that i am so pleased we have an insulin pump and feel after 4 years of consistant struggling we are finally getting somewhere
