Can insulin ratios be different at different times during the day?

My blood sugars are rising every day at about mid night and I can't figure out why.

It can't be my levemir as I do this maybe an hour and a half before the rise starts to happen. I tested my BG last night before I went to sleep at 10:30pm and it was 5.2 and by 1am it was 17.4 (I have a CGM meter and so can see the changes through the night). This has been happening for a week now...

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Do you split-dose your levemir @nedboyd1967 ?

Most users find that a single dose doesn't give them a full 24 hour coverage so have to split-dose , I found this too when I briefly changed from lantus to levemir several years back.

Hi Ned, I know its so frustrating. Yes, you can have different ratios at different times of the day. What time do you eat your evening meal at? Are you eating high fat content evening meals that are slow to digest, causing a delayed blood sugar level?

Not particularly, i eat a pretty balanced diet. last night I had a potato and coconut curry that had roughly 60g of carbs.

I found that if I do anymore novo rapid I end up going hypo which then again results in me having nighttime spikes.

I do split yes. I do 13 units in the morning at 7am and 13 in the evening at about 10pm. Could that be too long a gap between injections?

Possibly, you could try moving your evening basal back by 3 hours so that your doses are 12 hours apart, it may/may not make a difference............ nothing ventured nothing gained so to speak.

I used to find that my Levemir taken at 7.30am was wearing off by about 8.30pm, so it's very possible.
