How is your weight?

What impact does exercise have on your BG?

Could you tell us what insulin regime you're on, what insulin you take and also what doses you take?

Hi @Ebony2102 .
What have you tried?
Are you overweight witn your insulin resistance?

Another insulin resistant suffer is @Kristin251 who may be able to keep you right as a type1.
I have some ideas.
Supplement r-ala helped me reduce my insulin but you must be very very careful you don't hypo when you take it.
Exercise without any stress and tweaking your insulin injections.
What insulins do you use?

Actually I am very insulin sensitive! I take very small doses. Im also very carb sensative and thrive on a very low carb diet. Protein in excess will raise me but very common on a vlc diet.

Too much food in general doesn't work for me

Foods that make me insulin resistant are all grains, starch and sugar. Saturated fat as well

I eat only above ground veggies, avocado, nuts, pu,pain seeds for carbs

Fats are mainly avocado, olive oil, mayo, nuts and pumpkin seeds.

Protein is a huge variety in moderate portions.

The best way to reduce insulin resistance is to lower carbs of all kind, eat MODERATE amounts of protein and don't over eat fat, especially saturated fat and dairy. Take walks after meals. Slow to moderate paced. Google leptin resistance. They go hand in hand. The Rosedale diet set me straight!!

My weight is awful, I am over weight, but only my top half, for some reason, I have very skinny legs and weight yet I'm really big on top... excersise shoots my bloods down at the time of exercise but later my bloods rise... I am on novo rapid, I carb count, I take between 25 and 50 units each meal, then corrections in between. I was on 116 levemir split twice a day, but just be changed to Toujeo once a day 92 units

Sounds like you're very insulin resistant and need to lower carbs? Find the food and quantities that spike you?
With that amount of insulin how are your blood sugars?

What's your normal diet look like?

How do you feel?

We're all built differently when it comes to where the weight goes first.

What is your daily carb intake? It would probably be best to look at reducing that to a moderate level, some diabetics do see a decrease in insulin sensitivity when carbs are heavily reduced/excluded entirely from their diet. I agree with @Kristin251 about the fat part, if you eat too much of that, your insulin resistance will not improve whatsoever.

Your best tools against insulin resistance are losing weight and keeping as active as possible.

Have you been tested to have things like PCOS ruled out? And thyroid issues?

You say you're overweight but is that according to your BMI or just how you look/your build?

Has Metformin been suggested?

Have you tried Humalog or another insulin instead of the Novorapid?

Weight loss would be the best thing you can do IMO. And you won't have to reduce your insulin, just your caloric intake, especially carbs. I'm guessing you eat quite a bit of carbs. That's a potload of insulin for a Type 1 diabetic.

Reducing carbs and calories will EVENTUALLY mean a reduction in insulin but for now that would probably just give you better numbers

Certainly losing weight will help as will regular exercise. Also some type 1 members have been prescribed Metformin to help with their IR, you should ask your Dr or Diabetes Consultant to prescribe it to see if it help matters, if they do ask for the SR version (Slow Release)as its said to be kinder on the stomach. Good luck.

One of the best treatments for insulin resistance (if there is no underlying medical cause) is resistance training. One of the benefits of the OpenAPS toolkit is that it provides data that allows you to measure various physiological aspects of living with T1D, and one of those things is insulin sensitivity or resistance. Over the past week, I've been monitoring mine, and doing two resistance training sessions and walking ten thousand steps a day has seen my sedentary sensitivity improve dramatically.

In the 24 hours after the session, I am significantly more insulin sensitive, and the overall drop from my sedentary level is around 20% lower than when sedentary, so I agree with others here. A well thought out resistance training program will provide both insulin resistance improvements and cardiovascular health benefits.

Wow! I'm taking 66units of Toujeo300 daily. Is it the 300 version you take too?
I'm very interested in what your diabetes care team are advising you to do?
If you're on 92 units of toujeo300 I'd advise you to reduce it by 3units at a time to see how much your basal performance changes. It shouldnt change at all!!!
The strange thing about insulin resistance it feeds off hypo treatments too.
I bet your having hypos with high bgs after food or exercise?
You are fluctulating heavily?

I'm finding that on 69 or 72units I have delayed hypos which then needs treating which then causes the need for more insulin to get rid of the acculated glucose in liver, other organs and muscles.

Try 89units of toujeo for me @Ebony2102 and tell us your daily pre meals and 2hrs after food bgs.
You will be surprised how little if any it will change your results. In fact you may find your bgs come down due to feeling better (more energy) so can walk more.
