Maybe lower carbs and insulin or start using other medication like metformin to allow you to reduce insulin. It's going to be tough because the insulin we inject starts off in the wrong place :(

Hi and welcome to the forums.

So is your doctor saying that you have double diabetes? T1 plus T2? My understanding is that quite a few T1s use metformin to reduce insulin resistance so that may be an option you are offered. And what does your doctor suggest you do? You are already on insulin for the T1... Is insulin resistance making it difficult for you ro control your levels?

I have a T2 dad and find my insulin to carb ratio is more like 1 unit to 3g now (which I think is insulin resistant because I used to need less though am not sure my doctor agrees). In any case, for me a moderately low carb diet stops my weight from increasing and allows me to keep reasonable control of my T1, but that is just me. I also definitely find that exercise reduces the amount of insulin I need.

Tagging in @Antje77 who is T1 and I believe has some insulin resistance.

Once more welcome.

Well I am type 1 and on tojeou ozempic andd insulin is fiasp.
I been told to do 1 unit to 7 carbs, but 6 months ago about 6 months ago I was feeling tired chronic itchiness so like when I check my levels they are averaging 15 up to 30 on my blood checks, I even would not eat but take insulin to get sugars down basically was letting the insulin feed the sugars.
I know is wrong , but now I know why. Just need to deal with the resistance so see what my diabetic doctor will do hope that makes sense ty all for replys

Hmm, as a T1 in the UK are you using a libre or dexcom? This should make your sugars easier to check and you'd pretty soon notice if you were running high. All UK T1s should now be getting a flash reader or a cgm.

How confident are you at adjusting your own insulin doses? In your position I'd be checking my basal rates and then my insulin ratio and correction doses. Though my clinic do the calculations for me if I ask, I don't see them often and so adjust my rates as I need in between visits. Note this is just what I would do as my team are pretty relaxied about letting me adjust my insulin, I don't want you to go against your team's advice if they have given you specific instructions. (We are not medical professionals here and even if we were forum rules don;t allow us to give dosing advice).

Having said all that I'm not familiar with the role ozempic plays in T1 management I thought it was mainly a drug for T2 diabetics? Can I clarify, how long have you been taking it along with the insulin? Did you start out with T1 or T2 diabetes 20 years ago?

Type 1 20 years now, ozempic it’s my 2nd week I take that once a week on a Monday o.5 does

Ah, so it sounds as though your doctor may have prescribed the ozempic because of the insulin resistance? Dr Google says it can help make you more sensitive to insulin, which is one reason why it is normally a T2 medication.
