Insulin resistance!!!

I have never experienced it before, I've been type 1 for 18 years! Just recently experienced resistance to insulin, it will go as high as 15.0 then I could take 15 units of novo rapid and still be in the 15's 10mins later!! Yes It does fall rather quickly after about an hour but I hate it so much and desperately want it to stop happening!! It's usually when I have dinner late, or go long periods without insulin. I've had it after workouts and when I work late.. I realise these are all similar situations but I would very much appreciate any types or info on why this happens and how to stop it! I have had a controlled hba1c for around 7 years now.

You would never see a drop in bg 10 mins from injecting as most QA insulins take around 15-30mins to work so this is why you notice the drop 1 hour after.

If your on basal/bolus (which I assume you are going by what you've written) then it looks like your basal insulin dose is too low and needs adjusting, the reason being that you say if you miss meals your bg levels still goes high which it shouldn't do if your basal insulin is set at the right dose , do some basal tests and once you get that right you can then look at your insulin-to-carb ratio's.

Totally agree. From the details you have listed then it would appear to be your basal thats wrong.
Also it appears that if ypu are then having tbe possibility of lows after highs then you are giving too much insulin as corrections.
Do you change your ratio's for bolusing and basal testing?
