insulin to carb ratio information please.

hi all
im just in the process of converting my daughters regime to basal bolus. Interested to hear from anyone who has some info on how to calculate insulin to carb ratios.
My hospital sticks to the 500 rule but ive read there are other methods？？？
Any advise appreciated...

I always started on 1 unit per 10g of carbs......I think kids start on 1 unit per 15g.....
