my wife is type 2 and takes insulin she is never sure when is the right time to take insulin she takes it twice aday and she been told by one nurse to take it 12 hours apart yet another nurse says take it before meals my wife has breakfast at 10 00 am and tea at 5 00pm

Timing of insulin can be tricky, and a huge amount of it depends on the type of insulin being used as different ones will work faster or slower. If she is on a mixed insulin it can be even trickier as both insulins in the mix need to be considered.

Yes, the key is the type of insulin. Is it a mixed insulin? If so you need to seek the guidance if the DN. If it's '24hr' Basal insulin such as Lantus or Levemir then if the advice is twice a day then the timing isn't critical as long as it's approx 12 hours apart so at the start of the day and end of the day roughly
