If it's in the EU, a current copy of your prescription may suffice as proof you need it and it's yours. However, it's probably safest to get a medical letter explaining your diabetes. You can pay £25 for your GP to write it, or go to your diabetic specialist nurse, who will usually do it for free. If you're travelling somewhere like America, they probably have extra hoops to jump through.

I've only ever needed my diabetic letter that I have from my diabetes nurse, that's been fine when I've went to Europe & America, In fact no one has ever actually asked to see it, so many people have diabetes now they don't seem to need to check, but obviously it will sometimes happen. Remember to carry all your needles, cartridges, basically all diabetes related things in your hand luggage x x

No extra hoops to jump through! Im currently in Boston, MA and carried all my equipment on board with my medical letter...I wasnt even asked for it or questioned by aurhorities!!
