Insulin with chicken? Is it require or not ? Please help.. I recently joined a gym. And am eating more chicken for the protein.if I only eat it and nothing else do I need Insulin. I’m a Type 1. Thanks in advance.

Depending on how much you are eating in one sitting, you may need to administer some insulin yes due to a process in the body known as gluconeogenesis (basically, excess proteins being converted to glucose to be used as fuel). The best way to test this though is just to eat the chicken and nothing else and monitor your BG level over the following 2 hour period.

This should help: http://teachmephysiology.com/basics/atp-production/gluconeogenesis/

What Ashley said, but generalised : if eating something sends your sugars up, then you need more insulin, and measuring is the best way to find out what your body is doing with what you're eating. This applies to all foods.

I find that my glucose levels do rise when I eat a meal with or without carbs. I tend to use less insulin for non carb meals but it is trial and error. As others have said, it's easy enough to test.
