Insulin

Dont be too worried about it....change your doses until you are happy with your bg levels...you are managing it yourself so dont be afraid to experiment a little bit...

Yes I need to have less cereal and extra basal I've figured out. Going to see how it goes

How are your levels the rest of the day with the amount you are taking for other foods? I wouldn't jump straight to adjusting the basal as it sounds more likely to be a bolus problem

When you say you are going high is that by the next meal or is that 2 hours after and you come back down by the next meal? I only ask as you haven't actually stated a time frame

Also have you tried an alternative breakfast? What cereal is it that you are eating?
xx

Hi kaylz91 my levels for the rest of the day are much better tho not perfect. I mean going high 2 hours after my meal. The breakfast is gluten free cornflakes

How much for my 30g cereal and ¹/⁴ pint milk? 30units of novarapid.
But luckily your not severely insulin resistant like me.
My basal could kill a horse. (230units)
Only 85 units per day of Toujeo300.

It was less when not suffering in pain or stomach disorder at mo.
DN said no amount of insulin will be enough until pain is helped.

I'm on humalog and lantus insulin so that makes a difference obviously. Thanks for your reply

Does nobody have cereal??? Because I've asked how much anyone would take for a bowl of cereal and no replies
Hi, I don't eat cereal, well in fact, I don't eat anything until about 11 when I'll have a slice of cheese or ham. I do bolus of 1 unit of insulin for 10 carbs roughly for other meals but tend not to eat 10g of carbs in any one meal. I don't like cereal but I do occasionally fancy a slice of toast. Not in the house so it doesn't get eaten. Isn't it all so very tricky?

How high is high by the way?

So are your levels back to pre meal levels by the time you next eat? Without taking any insulin in between these times? xx

I hardly ever take insulin according to the carbs anymore...it's way too Less...I'd have an even higher spike in my results. My cereal has 15 carbs and I take 6 units of humalog

@Saeeda could you give an example so we can understand a bit more please?
So what were you yesterday before the cereal, 2 hours later, then what were you when you next ate, and how long after your breakfast injection after that?
If it's ONLY the 2 hour post eating result that is high then I wouldn't adjust the amount of insulin you take
Is Humalog just a meal time insulin?
If yes then I would adjust the TIME you give it, when are you injecting in regards to when you eat? xx
