I am extremely upset after my appointment yesterday and I can't get my head around it, I had a appointment in my doctors with my doctor and a doctor from the hospital and my potassium has been extremely low I will be 2 years in next month on the 27th. My hba1c has always been low between 28 and 30 apart from my diagnosis when it was at 92. So they want to take me off insulin?

I would guess the reference to Insulin in the link might be why they have stopped it. Maybe ask them if this is the case? The problem with all lists of causes is that they are liable to cause anxiety. I think they owe you an explanation to relieve any unnecessary stress. Have they said they will be in touch? If you don't get a satisfactory response, contact the PALS site at your hospital. Good luck!

What causes hypokalemia?

Low blood potassium typically occurs because of an excessive loss of potassium in your digestive tract. This may be due to frequent vomiting, diarrhea or laxative use. Other causes of hypokalemia include:

The only thing they have said is that the inulin novo rapid is causing my potassium levels to be extremely low, ithought though that if you take away the insulin my blood sugar will be through the roof

So would I, which is why I would hope they keep in close communication. They haven't taken you off yet by the looks of it - maybe they are discussing what the best plan is for you? You could send an Email to the clinic via the hospital website, explaining how this has affected you.

Long shot, but you aren't on a diuretic or anything else that could have caused the low potassium levels are you? I'd also be pushing for an appointment sooner than 2 weeks with extremely low potassium levels as it can cause confusion etc.

Nothing that can cause my potassium to go low they checked again yesterday my gp specialise in diabetes which is a bonus, my potassium has been like this since I started insulin nearly 2 years ago but my hospital Dr's haven't address it so this is why I seen a different consultant with my gp
