That would depend where you are going, how long for, variety of food available etc. Are you going onto a once daily injection ( background ) or quick acting with food ?
If you are confident, there's no reason why you couldn't start straight away but the fact you've posted here suggests a little nagging doubt so maybe better to wait ? Your choice really. Good luck !
Thanks mo1905, going on a two week cruise to Iceland, so choose of food should not be a problem, not sure weather it will be a once a day injection, will be told Tuesday, levels are always high after food,
Hi. I went onto insulin 4 months back as T2. First it was once a day at night and I have now added rapid acting as well for meals. I would start now. You are unlikely to have any side effects, bad reaction etc. My pen cartridges last a max of 4 weeks out of the fridge (years in the fridge) so you will need to work out whether to take extra pens/cartridges if your current ones run out during the cruise; they will only last the 4 weeks once out of the fridge and in use but you may have a fridge in the cabin anyway? The good news is you can be more relaxed about what you eat on the cruise and if you should have problems you can just stop the insulin.
