I think things are done a little different where I live (Scotland).
So I got my initial pump meeting in April, even though I will not be starting on the pump until 18th August (which seems a long time away!)

Then this week I got delivered a parcel with 3 boxes of mios and 3 boxes of reservoirs.
Today I got a monitor and the actual pump (a nice purple one!) delivered. So I think I need to insure it now, my contents will cover any item up to £4000 for personal use, is this enough?

Give Medtronic a ring on Monday morning and ask them.

Hi @fairylights

I've got my Medtronic insulin pump which was a Veo but has now been replaced by a 640g insured as a separate named item for £4000 on my household insurance. I checked when first insuring my Veo what value I should cover it for but haven't checked again since changing over. As CarbsRok says give Medtronic a ring, I'll be doing the same thing - thank you for reminding me ! :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what are we meant to be insuring it against...? Fire -- I'd like to think I'd take it with me... Theft -- someone would have to get preeety intimate with me to steal it... Water damage -- my pump is waterproof... If the pump fails, my understanding was that Medtronic replaces...? So is it just in case of some other form of accidental damage you might do to it...?

I think accidental damage, but the DSN did say they had someone who was backpackng in Europe and had his pump cut off him whilst he was sleeping :(

It's very rare you will need it. I was on a Medtronic pump for four years and had it replaced three times all at their cost. Theft never happened as it was so secured to me. Find out the value of it and ask ta insurance company but I found as long as it is specifically named in your insurance it's fine

The coverage is for theft and accidental damage coverage.
It's been known for people to shut the pump in car doors and also people do take the pump off if going swimming so can be stolen then. Better safe than sorry :)

So I phoned the helpline and they said £2900 - less than I thought it would be.
