Hi All,

Well, I have purchased my first house and all going well until I looked into Insurance. Life insurance is not so much of an issue but critical illness is more than a pain in the ****! Basically not a chance in hell it seems like! You know, I would have thought in this day and age with so many medical advancements it would be considered at least!

So, can you all kindly share with me (and others) some or all of the following:
-How much do you pay for life insurance and with who?
-Have you found a critical illness plan and with who?
-Have you taken out accident and injury policy in place of the critical illness and with who?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi dazza

I've been there and it does cost dearly. Costs were so high as to be totally unaffordable all three so I did without and put that money towards extra monthly payments off my mortgage.

I am now mortgage free having repaid and if feels marvellous.

I really feel for folks who are trying to get their lives in order in the current climate, very difficult indeed.

Late onset T1, several auto immune issues.
Humalogmix25 twice a day, Methotrexate 25mg once per week, FolicAcid 5mg once per week, prednisolone 5mg daily, Allopurinol 300mg, Calcichew-D3 800iu, Levothyroxine 50mcg, Atenolol 50mg, Losarten 100mg, Aspirin 75mg, Nicorandil 20mg, Nitrolingual GTN spray, Metformin 2000mg, Allimemazine 10mg, Lanzoprazole 30mg, Atorvastatin 20mg, Co Codamol 8/500mg, Depo Medrone (Methylprednisolone) or double Prednisolone for 7 days in case of RA flare.

Unfortunately they do heavily load the premiums for type 1 diabetics as it goes on risk, I took my life insurance out (for mortgage purposes) with a company called Cornhill Insurance which is now owned b y Phoenix Life.
