Hello,

i am looking to apply for an internship in the USA for a year. However my mum does not want me to apply as she thinks I will not be able to get insurance and my medicine will cost more than I earn. I think she is overreacting, but just wanted to see if anyone here has worked in the USA and what the insurance situation was like? I don't want type 1 diabetes to hold me back.

Yes there are insurance companies out there who will cover you in U.S.A. I spent time over there and it is great country to visit and work in. Don't let diabetes be the cause of you not realising your dream. Just google insurance for diabetics or better still email diabetes UK and ask for a list of companies who would be willing to cover type 1 diabetics in U.S.A. Hope this helps.
