Hello Stephen, welcome to the forum. I'm also type 2 since 1998 after acute pancreatitis , I'm on insulin a year .Hi - I am Stephen- joined today- type 2 diabetic for last 5 years- been on insulin for 6-8 months. History of diabetes in family- both parents and grandmother died as a result of this. TBH- fed up of insulin and blood testing -3 times a day and calculating carbs. I know that diabetes will get me in the end so why fight it. Would like to hear an alternate view.
Hi LorraineHello Stephen, welcome to the forum. I'm also type 2 since 1998 after acute pancreatitis , I'm on insulin a year .
Now doing low carb diet and my readings have come down well.
You owe it to yourself to try and take control and stick with it.
Hi Lorraine
Thank you- unfortunately I don't call this living.
Hi Erin I was only diagnosed type 1 in October last year and still honeymooning myself. Only taking 2 or 3 units of novorapid with meals and 5 lantus at the minute and it's not changed since I was diagnosed. Hope my honeymoon lasts forever. Good to hear from a fellow honeymooner
I would like to think it will last forever but I know that isn't going to happenHi Spaockraptor, its nice to know someone else who is honeymooning! Sounds like my needs are v similar to yours - Ive stopped injecting at breakfast and usually take 2-4 units at lunch/dinner and 4 units of Lantus at night. I love that my bg stabilises during the night but look forward to when I can predict what I will need! At the moment I just judge whether I need more or less (novorapid) based on the previous few days. That's great that your doses haven't changed much since diagnosis, long may it continue
