Hi, I am a 46 yo female with what the Dr Says is sort of type 2. It is sort of as I had surgery on my pancreas in 2008 which led to diabetes kicking in within a year. Since then I have been told that the remaining pancreas is calcifying and that I will never get my blood sugars under control.
I currently take 2000g Metformin MR, 15 pioglitazone, 50 units 0f insulatard twice daily and 30 units of humulins three times a day (more if my sugars are particularly high) I have to eat a very low fat diet (also take creon) and can only eat small portions.
My last Hb1ac was 12.4 before that 11.2 even if I don't eat it goes up. I've been told this might be because of the pancreatic pain. I'm hoping people can give me some tips to try and deal with it all because I'm stumped :?:

Hi my name is Sue and I am 63 ( had a birthday Saturday) I am type 2 diabetic but now on insulin . As you can tell I am female. I live in Southern Spain not far from Alicante ( not Benidorm ). I am not really religious but have been christened and confirmed but dont attend church very often. I do not have any pets. I teach Linedancing for physical and mental exercise and like cruising as a holiday. I hope to be able chat about my diabetes to other members as the health service in Spain is not the same as in the uk. Its very good but they have different ideas about treatment.

My name is Hoslo and I am a diabetic! Gosh it felt good to say it out loud. Seriously, I am interested in talking to someone who has has a gastric roux by pass and has a BMI less than 28. I am type 2 diabetic and currently on insulin and novonorm and metaformin. I am considering to have the operation privately and hopefully I will be one of the 80% that it cures the diabetes. I want to listen to all opinions and make a sound judgement as to live a life with drugs or without. One last thing I am not obese and do not eat too much but my blood sugar levels just go sky high so now I am monitoring my GI levels in my food and experimenting in the next two weeks if this changes my roller coaster blood sugar levels. I look forward to hearing from you.

hiya.. i am a carer for a lovely lad with downs syndrome, he has just been diagnosed with diabetes, and im finding it difficult to handle. he loves his food, and trying to keep him away from chocolate, biscuits and cakes is a nightmare!. im sure it will get easier as we both learn to cope with the situation.
 
Hello all,

I live in North Wales, near the sea. I used to be in love (or thought I was, or am fighting the feeling), but have now escaped an abusive marriage. I love dancing, playing the drums (I am part of Batala - Google it and you'll be in for a treat!). I have traveled a bit and enjoy going on adventures whenever my purse allows it. I like comedy (stand-up, in films, sitcoms, books, plays, Opera, cartoons...) and dearly love having a good-natured laugh at the world and myself. I am not wealthy but I get by.

I learn things quickly and I am very patient. Also, my mean dance moves...

My relationship with food and the fact that I have an eating disorder. I really wish I didn't - even though I have been in recovery for many years. Oh, and my diabetes.

Hi i'm Linzi 62 with 2 daughters and 2 gorgeous grandsons. I married in 1970 and happily seperated for 7yrs. My main interests are anything connected with the outdoors-camping, walking, pic-nics, cycling but nothing to strenuous. My main employment was working with numbers like accounting, book- keeping, sales and invoicing etc. In fact i'm a bit of a carol vordman and love countdown and quiz shows.
