I’m Amber.

49 female

Type 2 been diet controlled for over 3 years but my levels are going awry at the mo.

Yes I’ve been in love.

Always Apple over Microsoft.

Don’t get mad easily.

Hi. I am Wendy, 59, living in Scotland.

Have probably been prediabetic for years but never been tested. But tests at the end of last year confirmed the inevitable. Years of eating too much chocolate and carbs in general. Learning about what affects my readings. Any help appreciated.

About me?

Pretty average.

Though I have a beautiful but stubborn golden retriever so I do get out walking every day.

I love James Bond films, Paddington 2 and good thrillers.

Don't like my face, hence no photo, maybe later.

A bit of a control freak unfortunately and very impatient if things don't go my way. Happens more often as I get older.

Like the gym and yoga, when in the mood.

Struggling with the thought of no more sweet treats but adoring keto cheese scones mmmmm.

Hello all.

Hi,

I am a newbie to this forum so I am just finding my way round.

I just wanted to ask a quick question if I may before I introduce myself..

I have just been newly diagnosed with type 2. Am I right in saying that my HbA1c test is 50 mmol so does that mean my blood sugar is 8.1?

Sorry if I sound a bit dim but I am so new to this and just wanted to find out if this was right?

Kind regards PF53 x

I’m type 1 had my hab1c today and I’m 5.3 so I got 7.0 if that helps I’d say u were 6.8 maybe ??

Hi @Jj84type1 . Welcome to the forum. Nice to have a new face on board.
I think a lot of us fall into the trap of not moving with the times.
Carb counting is something I didn't undertake for almost 20 yrs after diagnosis.
I initially got an idea about it off the internet, can't recall the site sadly.
Biggest thing for me was being offered a DAFNE course by my diabetes consultant. It was fantastic and if any way you can get on course or something similar definitely worth doing.
Alternatively you can get carb counting information online.
BERTIE online. Sadly can't give you the internet click on information. Like you I'm very old school and haven't figured out how to do it yet.
Good luck and hope to hear more from you as an experienced T1.

Yes DAFNE is last training I had at 23 I’m now 33 and still winging it!!!but as an up I’m back in hospital diabetic clinic and feel motivated more than ever gp diabetes is so wrong for type 1 s already I’m on new insulin dietitian appointment book I feel so happy I made my gp switch me back to the pros
